H/L Wiper Blade Replacement

I've been going over my new (to me) '86 300E fixing several little things. One of them is replacing the headlight wiper blades and re-aligning the wiper arm.

Can't figure out for the life of me how to get the old blades out without the risk of breaking something. Can anyone shed some light on this procedure for me? Also, how can I remove the wiper
blade arm to re-align the arm properly.

Thanks,

Gary

It is a very difficult task. You grab the blade and pull straight away from the arm. It pops right out.

To align the blade, I suggest running them a few times to ensure that they are finding their home position. If they are indeed still not aligned, fold the arm out, and you will see a nut, I think 8MM. take off the nut, pull the arm, turn it where you want it and push it back over the splines. then replace the nut and fold the arm back in place.

Good luck,

Thanks.

I tried that at first, but I was pulling hard enough that I thought I might break the plastic insert that they're attached to. I was thinking there might be some mechanical release I needed to actuate. I'll try again, carefully.
