bypass oil filter on w126
After searching the database I found many opinions on bypass filtering. I am a firm believer in the concept from a long-term standpoint. Have installed on my diesel truck and am doing it to my '91 420SEL but I have a question:::
My stock oil filter set-up does not have the air oil cooler. Because of this I do not have the thermostat, control valve, or compression spring in the filter assembly. These ports have threaded plugs. Looks to me like a good in/out for bypass filtering. Has anyon had any experience with this location? It also looks to me like the oil filter assembly comes off the block in one piece with removal of 3 bolts. Is this true? It's my first post. I appreciate your insight. tks / s-ball Last edited by stickball; 06-27-2002 at 11:28 PM. |
