Ok I figured out it’s both knock sensors. Not sure why there all of a sudden tripped a code

The timing is automatically adjusted to prevent knock based on the knock sensors. Maybe not enough octane in gas, timing chain maybe due for a change? Doubt it's anything in the distributor.

I dunno I reset it. Just had the battery cable off for the day for a transmission swap. Maybe just a fluke. Plus I haven’t driven this car too much in the last few months. Everything on this car is fresh up to date. I did new timing chain, tensioner and guides last year when I did the head gasket. Timing is spot on. No distributor with the 3.2

"Circuits open" means just that - the circuits are open. You have a broken wire, disconnected pin/plug, or corrosion causing problems here. Has the wiring harness been replaced on this car?

Yup twice and I swapped out the one from my Perfectly running 94 To double check. Was getting the cam sensor code but I retimed the chain and adjuster, it was a lil off. Throttle actuator updated. The car runs beautifully. This is the first a knock sensor code came up.

I’ll double check the connections. One thing I recently had the transmission replaced. Maybe the mechanic bumped things around under the intake.

This not a negligent engine. Whatever parts it needs it gets

Knock sensors can and do fail (BMW guys know about them quite well). Usually the failure mode is excessive activation from internal fractures or corrosion which then causes drivability problems, CEL, or low power from retarded ignition. Usually "Open circuit" codes are the ECU complaining about an incomplete circuit. It's possible that something got unplugged, a wire broken off, or something pinched in the bellhousing when the transmission was replaced. Could also just be coincidence. Be aware that knock sensors are delicate and fragile things, don't bother with used parts they will already be bad or fail shortly after being installed.

I don’t want to Toss expensive parts on it if I don’t have to. I’ll try to get a used part and see if things change.

Still can’t shake the 32 blinks. Swapped out knock sensors. Maybe possible the wiring is eco somewhere else?

check continuity of the knock sensor wiring and its sheathing, the wires are shielded.

you may need to redo the wiring if its internally broken.

and as mentioned above, if you physically hear a spark knock from the engine and the timing doesnt change, you have a duff knock sensor. I think these old benzes used a plain knock sensor that is tested with a hammer strike to the engine.

I’m gonna get the knock sensors from a 96 m104 since they changed to a different cheaper style and incorporate them into the 4 pin connector of the 95. ******** has the 2-1 sensors from some generic brand and they cost over $300. Nope
