@jsb357
The 450SEL came from Dallas so I know what you mean about the interior. We flew down from Seattle to buy it sight unseen from a W116 forum member. Anything that was in view of the sun was cooked, you could see where shadows had kept areas in better shape. Now I’m wondering what my user name is on the forum. Oh great, another rabbit hole... Just a quick update, lots of things now work, either correctly or well enough for now. Drivers window goes down and back up again, none of the other windows work. Tach works as does clock and dash lighting. Cheap "retro" radio installed. Many interior lights work as does drivers seat. Sunroof worked, past tense. Now opens electrically but won't close. New glow plugs make starting much easier, a diesel purge cleaned up some of the idle smoke. New tires to replace the ones installed in 2007. The spare is from 1985 and it's on a rotted 14' bundt so it's just a museum piece at this point. Wiper linkage got a new bushing so we can drive it in the rain, handy for the PNW. Central locking works after freeing pump motor.
Still needs brakes all around and more electrics to be fixed. Alex seems happy with the car, it suits him. He does not like my car, it accelerates too quickly! Maybe I'll have him drive the '74 F250 SuperCab, that should be fun. Michael
