How hard is it to change the trans. fluid and filter in my 1988 190E 2.3? What are the basic steps?
Thanks, Chris Prestridge |

You must drain the pan with the 5mm allen drain plug. Then remove the pan with the 13mm bolts around it (6 of them). Next, with a 27mm socket and ratchet, you will have to rotate the engine clockwise until the drain plug for the torque converter is seen take it out with the 5mm allen also. Then replace the filter and reverse the procedure. Big Note. The drain plug for the pan takes a copper seal. The drain plug for the torque converter takes an aluminum one! Be sure to remove the old ones.
