W210 2002 E430 Instument Cluster

Interested in replacing the Instrument Cluster in the E430

Pixels are all dead, and the gas gauge is not reliable.

I tried fixing the Pixels - and they got worse.

So - repair is an option. What are your thought?

Dealer told me the Instrument Cluster is set with the VIN - so getting an operational cluster from a junk yard may be a challenge.

Hello,

I have a 2002 E430 and am now told I have to replace Instrument Cluster. I though problem was Front SAM, but mechanic telling me no. Did you ever find a replacement for yours?

Thank you,

Car is gone - no instument clustrer replacement

The car served me well, but was totaled via a rear end collision.

The closest I came to addressing the instrument cluster was to remove it and send it to a firm that would "repair" the pixels and such.

Didn't know which dashboard repair service to trust, so never sent it.

Best of luck, I have no assistance for you.

I just replaced my cluster from a local U-Pull salvage yard for $35.00. It works perfectly, but the mileage shown is from the donor car. You would need to get one from a face-lift E320/E430 (2000-2002) since your car is a 2002. You can test the cluster in the yard using a battery junk box, connecting the box under the hood to the positive post or under the seat! Even without a key, the cluster will come on when you open the driver's door!

Good luck!

Richard

You can just plug in a used cluster. I'll work just fine. I've done dozens of them. The mileage can even be transferred to the donor unit if it hasn't already been done.

It would have to be done with an SDS scanner or something compatible. I use a Xentry scanner.
