M117 560SL Oil Pump Removal

I have a question regarding the removal of my oil pump. The manual https://www.tonk.ca/r107CD1/Program/Engine/107/M117_56/18-210.pdf says in step 3 “Place compensation weight of first crank pin in horizontal position”. What does that mean?
