300E 1992 Exhaust Sound
Just replaced the resonator and muffler on my 1992 300E. Resonator is Starla and muffler is Walker. Not happy with the new sound. Instead of a quiet exhaust
like before replacement, the exhaust is now very throaty. Not sure which part or both are the problem. Hate to start replacing parts without knowing where I'm going. My understanding is regardless of brand name on the parts they all come from the same manufacturer. I just want it back to the way it was. It is a great 124 with only 65K miles that I purchased 5 years ago with 35K miles. Thank you for any and all thoughts and advise.

Had this on a '93 using MBZ exhaust from the dealer, tried replacing the center muffler with another genuine (local dealer would not warranty) with no improvement. Decided to live with the problem but that car went from whisper quiet to one with a drone.
About the mufflers all being the same/same manufacturer, no. The differences can both be seen and heard. Good luck!!!

Muffler Reply
Thanks for the feedback. In my search original Mercedes muffler and resonator
are no longer available. I would consider replacing either the muffler or resonator if I knew which one was causing the problem and which brand to buy. Probably going to live with it.
