Service B is way overpriced, no?
Service B at my local dealer is listed at 599 and for the life of my I can't figure out why. I just bought a GLC and for whatever reason Service B wasn't done before selling to me. Why does brake fluid, oil change, and a cabin air filter need to be 600 bucks? Is there something else that is included besides those three things? Should I just take it to an independent mechanic for services? I'm coming from a BMW where the dealerships have much lower service costs https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/.

If it included the transmission fluid and filter changed. It might be realistic. Otherwise there are two other factors I have noticed over the years.
The majority of people only know how to drive a car. Accept anything they are told by a dealer. Some people feel the more they pay the better. They must be getting something different. I know dealers of several brands are putting the wrong oil in some cars as well. Someone has to pay for the large shiny dealership buildings . It is not them. Call it a surcharge or whatever. How can a cabin air filter cost 50-60.00? When a decent aftermarket one can be had for a small fraction of the price? I save 300.00 by changing the wives engine oil and filter plus the transmission fluid and filter. At every 40K millage. I use dealer supplied transmission fluid and filter as they are similar to aftermarket cost. This is the way I am certain. I also get the right engine oil in the car. The dealer does not have it. On just a regular oil change I save 100.00 even with using the right engine oil and quality oil filter. I only do the wives oil changes at the recommended intervals. As that car sees more than ninety percent highway use. If the car was 90 percent city type driving and 10 percent highway. I would change it earlier. I think their transmission oil change is too often in the service that car is being used in. On the other hand transmission in that car goes bad. I hear big dollars. I am just too old. I remember having a rebuilt transmission installed for 75.00 including labor. It was a a manual transmission but still feels like a fairy tale these days. Another one was doing oil changes myself for two dollars. including oil filter if the car had one. Plus buying good solid older cars for less than the cost of a tire today. Gas was five American gallons for a dollar for a very long time. Last edited by barry12345; 03-31-2022 at 04:02 AM. |
