W124 trunk lid. Difference between 300E vs 200E
The other day a cargo/box truck backed into our 300E(w124) in a parking lot, ruining the trunk lid (original design/not updated trunk lid)
I managed to find a trunk lid from a 200E in the same color, and replaced it, but now when i pop the trunk , it opens up way too fast. Does anyone know if there is a weight difference between the 300E lid vs the 200E lid?

I don't know about weight, and I'm sure you saw there a few holes in which you can attach the spring. Use a different hole and see what happens.

There is a big difference between the trunk deck with a roadside triangle and the deck without. Did yours have the triangle and the new one not? The triangle has enough weight to allow the deck to close faster and rise slower.

Hi,
After double checking, there is one other set of holes on each side, but if i were to move the spring there i believe it would create even more tension in the spring as the hole is even further away from the hinge. I will give it a try tomorrow just to be sure. The original trunk lid(300E) did not have the triangle, but the newly installed 200E lid does have a triangle holder, however the triangle is missing. Based on what you wrote, i am now wondering just how heavy that triangle is, and if i go to the trouble of obtaining one will it fix the problem or am i better off going back to the junkyard to get the 200E springs?

Was the original lid steel, and the replacement aluminum?

All trunk lids are the same, get a triangle sign back in place it will even out the weight .And open slower .
