Is there a recall on cast iron fuel distributors?

My 77 450Sl has the cast iron type fuel distributor. I've been searching through the archives and read a post about all cast iron fuel distributors being replaced by alloy due to corrosion. Is this a recall or just a change made by the manufacturere in subsequent years/models?
