E320 Left Outside Mirror Question

I need to replace my E320 Left Outside Mirror rubber, it has become hard and brittle. This is not the rubber between mirror base and the door, but the large flexible rubber piece that allows the mirror to move forward and back.

Do I have to remove the door panel as well or can I disconnect the wiring at the mirror?

Remove the interior trip piece inside the door and you should expose the screws to remove the mirror. There should be a connector to disconnect the motor. Make sure you are holding the mirror assy when you remove the last screw. I have never done this - I am stating what is printed in the Motorbooks manual for this model. Looks pretty straightforward. Go to diyer at the top and look at door check strap replacement for removal of the inner trim piece.

Thanks for the reply.

I've done door straps before.

I wanted to know whether I could get away without removing the door panel because there was a connector close to the mirror.

The door panel does not have to be removed, just the forward upper triangle cover.
