87 190E-16V blew something trying to start
I have an older 16V that's haven't started for about a month. Yesterday, I went out trying to start, and put a jumper battery, then when turn on the ignition, the dash lights all went on, but when I turn to " start" position, the dash lights all went out, and the starter didn't turn. There were a small " click" sound as this happened - so it sounds like a fuse snapped. I check the fuses in the fuse box, and the fuse on the OVP, they were all good. Could it be relays or other fuses that could cause no start and shut down all the dash lights? Thank you

I unplugged the battery, wait a while, then plug it back. Turn on the light switch 1 click, the exterior lights went on for a sec, then went out. The negative battery terminal is warm right after, as if it's shorted?

Check the battery voltage. If it is good disconnect the battery by disconnecting the negative first, then check, clean and tighten the battery connections at both ends of each cable.
The click being heard is most likely a relay clicking, if it was a blown fuse from the first start attempt it wouldn't have made noise the second time. IMO, the likely problem is battery related i.e., defective or a bad connection. If the battery is defective delaying replacing it can create other electrical problems.

I got the car to start again. I think something tripped, and it got un-tripped by itself. Thank you
