Racing Harness for regular cars....

Through the years I have known a few chiropractors. One, I will never forget. He said the single shoulder strap with lap belt seat belt REALLY helped his business! He explained it like this; since the shoulder belt ONLY limits the movement of ONE shoulder, the other shoulder rotates in the event of an accident. This wrenches your back out COMPLETELY!

Enter the five point racing harness. There is a reason race car drivers wear a five point racing harness and you and I both understand the reasons.

So....I am thinking of installing two of these in my regular street cars.

Hope you're also ready to install a roll cage with proper padding, wear nomex, a hans device and a fully cert'd and current rated helmet too.

Given certain vehicles potentially involved, a Racing Harness for harness racing may be applicable.

Do air bags add any protection for the other shoulder?

I run a 3" 5-point harness in my 80 911SC.. have a nice Recaro driver seat that has the opening to properly route the shoulder straps through the seat. One thing going to a harness system - it's not a quick jump in the car and go... it takes some time to properly strap in - and once you are nice and firm - actuating any heater controls - radio - instrument panel - you have to loosen the straps ..
