2003 Lincoln Town Car; very small rock chips in windshield.

The 2003 Lincoln Town Car came with very small rock chips in the windshield. I am thinking of trying cerium oxide and a drill to remove the chips. Has anyone had experience using cerium oxide to remove small rock chips from windshields?

Try a basic chip repair kit. Theyre about 10 bucks and available virtually everywhere. No idea what you are trying to achieve with cerium oxide and a drill or why you've decided on that...

The active ingredient in 3M glass polish is cerium oxide. I would think that a polish may be indicated if one was interested in removing the shallowest of defects, but how much glass would have to be removed to level out even small rock chips?

Anyone have experience with glass polish? Can it remove 'sand blasted' haze from old screens?

My thinking is there is risk when installing a new windshield. The risk is the new windshield seal may leak after installation. Maybe I'm worrying too much and should go ahead and bite the bullet and install a new windshield.

I thought the cerium oxide might be worth a try though.....3M products have a good reputation....
