When I bought my 1985 190E, there was a smallish leak stemming from the oil cap on top of the engine assembly. To the best of my knowledge, the cap is metallic and the leak is generated there but doesn't seem too terribly serious. I have heard that there is a newer designed cap (in plastic) available. Anyone have any additional information on this?
Again, thank you in advance. Stephen Davis 1985 190E 130+K miles and going and going and going... |

Oil cap very tight, new and old.Is this a common problem.
What is the life expectancy of the oil cap,PO replaced it 2-3 years ago and it was leaking a bit already. When I tried to get a new seal from MB,they laugh at me and said they only sell the whole cap at $8.5 Canadian. Not expensive for MB parts, but seems a waste and environmentally unfriendly. ------------------ Tom 1992 300E 2.6 |
