Help - Need Scan of W124 Manual Page

My brother has a 1992 300D with the factory radio. This radio has a security feature that requires entering a security code in a certain way into the radio if it has lost power.

Unfortunately, he cannot read the instructions in his manual, as you can see from the scan below. If anyone has the time to scan in this page or type the part is missing, we would appreciate it.

a) turn radio power on and it should say CODE
b) punch in the code using the numbered pushbuttons
c) punch the SC button and it should come on

You obviously, will need the code numbers.

Ditto what engatwork said, except you don't need to press the SC button (whatever that is) in a 1992.

The radio will start playing after entering the 4-digit code.

I've had to do this enough that I have my code memorized by now.

BTW, your brother's code number is 7249.

(Man, am I going to look like a genius if that's right!)

Thanks for all the help. I think we have enough to get the radio going again if the battery dies.

If anyone actually has time to do a scan of the page, that would be appreciated too - more for just completing the manual than anything else.

I got a Private Message here on the Forum from you and responded with my E-Mail address, but haven't gotten anything from you - guess it was lost or dropped.

Can you try a short test message first?

Thanks,

Received the manual page scan OK. Many thanks for all the help.

Next question: Is this what the radio code card looks like? It doesn't match the car's VIN. Its two numbers, followed by four numbers, then a letter, then seven numbers.

Of the form: AA 9999 A 9999999

I'm thinking perhaps the first four numbers are the radio unlock code?

No, your code is 7249, remember?

I doubt that's what it is -- my guess would be that's for a key or something. According to my manual, there are supposed to be a couple wallet-sized cards with the number on them.

Those cards didn't come with my car, which I found out after my first battery disconnection.

I tracked down the original dealer who sold the car new, and called them up. They were able to look it up from the VIN number. It helps to sound honest.

So remember kids, when you steal an MB radio, be sure to write down the VIN number!
