... appears to be bad on '88 300E. Gauge reading is pretty erattic at low rpms. Have ordered repair CD but is backordered. How difficult is this to replace? Tips?

Very easy, remove air filter asssembly and you can see the oil filter. The sending unit screws right into the oil filter housing. Make sure to use a new "crush" seal.
