Please take a look at some pictures and give me your opinion
Holson ADi was kind enough to post some pictures of an 84 300CD I am interested in. The car is a 2 hour one way drive from me. Mileage and the interior are fine. My concern is the rust you can see. If you have any experience with these things, plese give me your input. I know it's hard to tell from a photo. He's asking 6500 but after some input it seems perhaps 4000 or so is the proper price.
the pictures are posted under the heading "Update on the 300CD I'm thinking about" in the Diesel Discussion section. If for some reason you have thoughts you'd rather share directly rather than post, my e-mail address is REBrooks@iwon.com Thanks, Ron Brooks

I checked the pictures and I saw that you are looking for a nice project. YouŽll end up to get the car repainted. At least front fenders need to be replaced, maybe some or all of the doors..and a lot of welding under the car. Make sure you give a good look in trunk before buy...I know you know this...good luck.

The decision to be made is whether what is pictured is specific or systematic. Being from Florida where rust free 30 year old MBs are the norm rather than the exception, I wouldn't touch that car unless the example is due to previous poorly done body work.
If on the other hand the rust is systematic the car is history. Its also over priced at 4000. Those cars have NO clasic value and probably never will. In my area a coupe won't even get the money a sedan will when they are that old. Its just transportation by now and harder to get into with only two doors.
