Question Low idle in gear

I have a 65' 300se W112 that idles really low when in gear. Even after it has warmed up the generator light goes on and it will stall at lights because of the drop in idle. If I move it to Neutral or Park it increases to normal. It seems that even if I am allowing the car to move forward under it's own gear speed without acceleration it is better. It seems only to drop from 800rpm to Low when I apply the break.

I am wondering if there is something simple I can do to improve this while I am waiting for the mechanic to see my car (about 2 weeks). I know the fuel injection on these babies is pretty delicate so I don't want to stuff around too much with it.

Typically improper variation in idle speed under load is due to mixture governing problems. Too much of the mixture is being determined by the flyweight governor and not enough basic rack correction.

Not something you should screw with. Just as possible and maybe a bandaid even if not the problem, would be ignition timing. Give it 5-10 degress more timing and see how it goes. It should at least smooth it over till the tech can look at it.
