Transmission vacuum modulator replacement.
Hey all,
My modulator (190e) appears to have a slight leak when I put vacuum to it. I assume this is not normal. I crawled under the car to get a look and as usual, there is no room to work. Also, I can not find any reference to this repair on the M.B. CD. 1. It is right up against the tunnel. Can you remove/replace with the trans in the car? 2. How is it held on the trans? Is it a press fit? Thanks. Tinker |

The modulator is held in with a single bolt and a bracket. It will be real difficult on a 201 car. You may have to lower the unit by removing the trans mount. You may have to further lower it by disconnecting the driveshaft.
I don't think I have ever done one on a 201 with the trans in the car. It's hard enough just to adjust it. Terribly tight situation.
