Headlight Alignment Template?
Sorry if this has been covered before, I searched and could not find it.
Anyone have a template or measurements for aligning ones headlights? I've pulled within 30 feet of my garage door, and have both high and low beams aligned to each other (proportional distance apart and equal horizontal height), but I must have something wrong because it either appears that I only light up the 10 feet in front of me (low beams) or I can't see the ground after adjusting a "little" higher. Anyway, just wondering is anyone knew how far from my garage I should park (yes, it's perfectly flat from car to garage) and how far from the ground and from each other the lights are supposed to shine if I use my garage door as a guide. Thanks!!!! ![]() |

This discussion applies to certain DOT and all E code headlights, and may help.

This is usually explained in detail in the owners manual.

JCE - that's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks !!
Gillybenztech - I know "how" to turn the screws that raise and lower the light. Nothing in the manual that I saw about a point of reference to aim them to. that link from JCE is just what I was looking for. Thanks again. ![]() |

On the newer cars, they do show the dimensions for doing a crude headlamp adjustment procedure in the owners manual.
