I was at a Junkyard "practicing" since when I go under my own 83 240D I want to be professional and not break anything. I took the rear hubs off and found the parking brakes and the toothed wheel adjuster. It was a 100 degrees out and I couldn't get underneath the car.
Is this the only way to adjust the parking brake? Mine presently has no braking action. |

You should check the linings to be sure that they are intact. Then adjust them inside the drum by turning the adjustment screw to tighten them. The final adjustment is a 13mm under the car above the driveshaft. Turn the screw clockwise to tighten. You want to have 3-5 teeth click when pushing the pedal down.
