A recent hesitation and stalling problem caused me to bring my "88 300E Sedan into the local dealership. Each time I would accelerate the car would either hesitate or completely stall. I could start it immediately and it idled OK. I did this a dozen times on the way to the dealership. The dealership's test drive found the car stalled and would not start. There response was that the battery was faulty and after replacement both fuel pumps intermittently malfunctioned. They also found that at idle I have an engine surge caused by a throttle body switch. Replacement of the throttle body was necessary to replace the switch.
Since everything was fine except for the original complaint of stalling/hesitation prior to their analysis, could this all be caused by some electrical/computer malfunction? Would appreciate your comments. |

Many times this is caused by a faulty ignition coil. It is very hard to find faulty because the scope pattern is usually OK untill it dies.
