Sloppy Steering on E500 - 55k miles
Hi,
The steering on my E500 feels very sloppy. Dealer checked the car out last week and found no suspension or steering linkage issues. Here are my observations: 1) Car pulls to the right on perfectly flat surface. If anything, shouldnt it be pulling to left, since most aligments incorporate compensation for road crowns? 2) Car feels like a boat around tight radiused bends 3) When traveling at high speed, steering responds very poorly to left-right-left or vice versa changes. 4) steering feels tangibly lighter than normal and less connected to wheels. Based upon the above, wheel alignment appears to be a culprit. How about steering box? Fliud is fine and pump was replaced last year? Any ideas on what else to look for, if anything? Thanks farrukh |

Have you tried checking the tire pressure. I had pulling on my 300E and I thought it was suspension or alignment but I only had 10lb of pressure in the tire. Eventually I got a tread separation and it gave me a good excuse to buy some mxv4+.

Sagging springs can cause a car to handle squirrely. Check your ride height to specification.
