Is there a way to find the engine number based on the vin numer? I am trying to order some parts and DUH...I don't have the car with me. It's a 90 300e and the parts shop wants the engine number something like 12-061402 or 12-061403

I'm not sure and I have called home to have my wife look for the number on the engine block, but you know how succesfull that will be. It 's an exercise in futility. She has trouble finding her phone in her own purse!

Well, anyway...If not I'm just stuck till tonight.

Yes you can find the original engine number with the VIN. What is the last 8 digits of the VIN?? I will list or E-Mail you the engine number.
