Dexron Mercon in 83 240D Manual Transmission?
Can I put the only ATF I can find---Dexron Mercon III in a 83 240D Manual Transmission?--someone told me it doesnt make a difference. I am literally typing this on a laptop in my garage and I have just put the transmission back in....

Carrameow,
Although your manual MAY prescribe ATF for your manual transmission, that was printed long before ATF became the very specialized product that it is today. I have used Mobil One 10W30 in the manual transmission on my 240D for some 400,000 miles with great results. If you still insist on using ATF, find some Type A. Best of luck,
