Question Hard Wiring a Radar Detector

So i got the kit to hard wire my radar detector to the battery, but i have no idea how to get it from battery to the Unit, i spent 30min on it yesterday, but then i had to head off to work, so i didn't get it figured out. The firewall on this car is kinda hard to figure out. If anyone has any input on how to solve this problem, please post.
Thanks in Advance

hard wire V1

My tech hooked it up to the interior light; then afixed the detector to the windshield, behind the right side of the rear-view mirror.

With the little middle sunshade down, the detector is just barely exposed for rearward detection. I found this an elegant set-up: neat and unobtrusive. The only problem: where to situate the small remote?

Lightbulb Valentine 1 hardwire install

I recently wrote a DIY article for a Valentine one hard wire remote install in my 96 Porsche 911, maybe this will help in providing some installation ideas.

Hey, sorry about not responding sooner.
For my 300E, The wiring job is pretty easy.
So i'll start, I took out the glovebox so I could access the black rubber shroud, from there i opened the the hood and right behind the battery theres the same shroud. To make sure your going thru the right one i just stuck a clothes hanger thru. Then attach the wire to the hanger. just pull it thru. The part ppl may want to alter is how i got it thru the air opening. I just forcefully opened the Front Widow defroster pipe and just pulled it thru with another hanger. Then just string your wire to the fusebox and solder it in (you can solder it to pretty much any fuse). When you start it up, it should just turn on.

I hope this helps, i'll try to post some pictures, im not very good at explaining.

I would imagine that this would apply to the 124 cars...
On a 126 there is an "optional accessory connector" under the foot rest below the parking brake. You can wire accessories (radar detectors, etc) to that block. I believe that there are different pins that can be used in order to have the item powered always or only when the car is on, etc.

there's no need to wire the detector to the battery. you can wire a v1 easily to the interior light on the 124, the one right above the rear view mirror. do a search - someone gave me the wire colors a while back for ground (brown) and switched on (i think it was green with stripes, but am not certain).

hard wire

If you have a sun roof asI do just access the area behind the opening switch and with a volt meter find a terminal that is hot
with the ignition on and dead when the ignition is off. The positive wire goes to that terminal and find a ground for the other wire.

im trying to hardwire mine right now. Mine wouldnt work when i tried to go directly to the fuse box. Ill try the brown for ground and green with stripes for power, but i couldnt get anything to happen when i was messing with them to try and get it to turn on. The porshe page helped alot, the sunroof switch is almost the same except the porsche one has 4 prongs and my 400e has 6. Thanks again.
