Engine stalls during deceleration
Hi!
My 85 380SE stalls a lot during the deceleration. It stalls when I slow down at the stop sign, at the red light, turning the corner but it never stalls when I am driving at the normal speed. After it stalls, I can start right away without problems. The engine runs very smooth. I have replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, OVP relay, spark plug, and air filter but the problem is still there. Anything else I should check next? The porblem has been there for too long and I am tired of it. I appreciate your help. Lin Austin, TX |

I recently went through something similar:
My First Cause for Concern Have you checked your Fuel Tank Screen: http://makeashorterlink.com/?O67712132 |

Joe,
I never thought about it's the fuel tank screen. One thing I noticed is that the the needle in the fuel gauge keeps moving back and forth. Sometimes it shows I have 1/4 of gas, sometimes it shows empty. I think the fuel guage sender is also bad. I think you are right that I need to have the fuel tank screen cleaned. Do you think I should let the garage do it or I can do it myself? I have the factory manual and I hope it has all the information I need. Thanks for your help. Lin |
