Cruise control amp

In the 126 series cars, in particular 81 300SD, where is the "amp" located for the cruise control ?
Many folks seem to have problems with this thing going bad.
I can see the actuator in the engine compartment.
I do have a request for a price quote for the thing with the Parts Shop.
