1992 400E Disable ASR
How can I disable the ASR on my 92 400E? California smog test requires running the car on a dynamometer. When I brought it in yesterday, the tech could not get it to work because the ASR kept triggering which aborted the test. Owners manual was of no help.
Thanks,

Unhook a front wheel speed sensor - it'll take ABS & ASR off-line.
Do a search; I posted a picture some time ago

I don't think its the duty of a Smog inspector to disconnect the wheel sensors. So I looked for another inspection station and found the answer:
In California, cars with slip or traction control and without a disengagement switch are tested the old way -- meaning no dynamometer. The tech said this is common on Mercedes. The only surprise is that the inspector yesterday did not already know this. Test done. Car legal.
