hard starting when cold

Has anyone actually found the problem with 1990 300TE.
Car will start but unable to give it ANY gas until it warms up a bit.
otherwise car runs fine. There is a stronger than "sulfur" smell than usual and there was also a fast idle that I had to stomp on the pedal which seems to have disappeared.

Check for vacum leaks (cis is especially sensitive cold to leaks) Check the duty cycle when hot if you find none, if thats in spec, start looking at the coolant temp sensor and the EHA amperage draw cold.
