Question Strut Replacement On 1990 129 Sl500

HAVING FINALLY GOTTEN MY HANDS ON A SET OF NEW STRUTS AND SHOCKS(BILSTEIN)FOR MY 1990 SL 500 (NON ADAPTIVE FRONT DAMPER SYSTEM), I AM DEBATING WHETHER ON NOT TO TAKE IT TO A NON-MERCEDES MECH FOR INSTALLATION OR DO IT MYSELF. IT WOULD APPEAR TO REQUIRE A SPRING COMPRESSOR TO ACCOMPLISH. IS THIS THE CASE? DO I RISK THE POSSIBILITY OF MESSING UP BOTH FRONT AND/OR REAR ALIGNMENT WITH THIS JOB? ACCESSIBILITY TO THE REAR SHOCK TOWERS APPEARS TO REQUIRE REMOVAL OF THE HARD TOP AND OPENING THE REAR DECK COVERING THE CONVERTIBLE TOP. IS THIS THE CASE. ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE WOULD BE TO TAKE IT TO A PEP BOYS LOCATION BUT I MIGHT GET MY VEHICLE BACK COSMETICALLY/AND OR MECHANICALLY MUCH WORST FOR WEAR. SORT OF LIKE MY PAST EXPERIENCE WITH THE LOCAL MERCEDES DEALER.
