86' 190e 2.3 vs 88' 2.3 engine

Anyone know if a 1988 190e 2.3 8v engine would fit perfectly in an 86' mercedes 190e with 5 speed manual which currently has a bummed engine?Perfectly, meaning noodifications at all. Would I need to modify any of the wiring or get another ECU?
Thanks in advance,
Peter V.

You will need to change intake manifold, fuel distributor with all of the auxiliary components. You will need to change exhaust
manifold, and IF the '88 is automatic you will need to change
flywheel. The '88 has a little different wiring that's why you need
to keep all of your original manifolds. The best way to make sure
what need to be change, is to call one of your local area junk
yards. Give them model of both vehicals, they have a scrap book
to make the cross reference. The book is pretty accurate.

The only items that would need to be changed are the ignition distributor, flywheel(add pilot bearing), idle valve, & temp sensors. Everything else should be the same.

the ignition distributor will come with the engine, along with all the intake components and fuel distributor, so i am assumming the idle valve will be on the engine. What about the temperature sensor? where is that located and how much would one of those cost?

What you asked & I meant is; you will need to use the distributor, idle valve, & temp sensors from the 1986 motor!
