Need to adjust the parking brake on an 81SD...
or maybe it's something else, which brings me to this question; I see there are two things...cable adjustment and some sort of brake adjustment through a keyhole on the brake hub. What determines which to adjust ? My footpedal is going to the floor (there's still resistance) but not enough holding power - putting too much stress on the automatic transmission when parked on a slope. Usually the pedal should hold the car firm only after about 3-4 clicks. Thanks ! |

Under the car in the middle at the rear of the driveshaft is a bolt, it is for fine adjustment. Just adjust the ones at the wheels until you feel some resistance and back off a little. Then go to the middle one for fine adjustment and routine adjustment. (the only reason to adjust at the wheels is if the shoes inside the drum are worn.)
