What is the fuel hose size/diameter on my E300??

On my '99 E300 turbodiesel (606 engine) there is a clearish fuel hose, hard/stiff plastic, that goes between the fuel filter to the actuator. Basically the clear plastic fuel hose going from the fuel filter back toward the injection pump. Anyone know what size fuel tubing this is or the material?? Thanks much. The hoses im referring to look yellow in the pic due to the wonderful biodiesel fuel!

Each hose is a dealer part number. IF you're thinking of using them for another application, I am not sure of the material.

Well, I need more for a different application, i'm planning on adding an additional 2 micron fuel filter element to my system, due to the nasty dirty diesel we have with high particulates. If anyone simply knows the size (ID) of the clear plastic fuel hoses, please respond!!

I would use the black fuel hose, its more flexible. Your extra filter is likely to be mounted on the frame, not the engine. On my '87 MB uses black fuel line to go from the metal lines attached to the frame to the pump/filter. Consider flexibility as when the engine is lifted to change mounts, etc.

md thanks for the response. My question however is what is the size of the clear fuel tubing.....does anyone know? The thick black hoses won't work for this particular setup.

Lightman, I'm not sure of a spec for this. However, here are some ways you can deduce or find out. the black hose is 7.5 mm, so the clear hose MAY be the same. Or, you can order one of clear hoses from the dealer and have it measured. I know you did not ask this, but if you are mounting anything to the frame, I would use the black hose as I believe its a lot more flexible. Note that even your VW has SOME flexible hose before going to the more rigid clear hose.
