A curiosity question one of you other MB afficionados may be able to answer.
Yesterday I saw what looked like an older 190 series (mid-1980's) with what appeared to be vents in the front fender between the turn signal light and the front of the wheel well. I have never seen this before. Anyone know what this model is and what the vents are for? Are my eyes playing tricks on me? I only caught a brief glance. |

I believe you'll find those small "gills" to be found only on the diesel version of the 190. There was also a similar opening on the 300E class diesels. |

The only 190D that that had this type of air intake was the 1987 2.5 turbo. It was a great running car. Too bad it wasn't offered w/5-speed!
The 300D 2.5 turbo W124 chassis also used the right fender as the air inlet, 1990-1993. |

This was a neat rare find. There aren't that many around. They were quick and got great fuel economy. If you buy, have the timing chain checked for years of trouble free motoring.
