water in passenger footwell

1989 mercedes 300e has water collected in passenger side footwell, (under footwell carpet dampener ) has approximately 1 pint of water after heavy rain, drains are cleared, cannot locate source. On dry days still a little damp, anyone with similar problem and solution.
