My car is an '87 300D Euro 4matic sedan. Problem is combination turn signal lever won't go back to center neutral after making a turn.
The MB dealer replaced a small platic ring (cheap), but charged a lot for labor. Lever was okay, but after a week, I'm have the same problem again. Is the plastic ring easily replaced by a DIY? What could be causing this recurring failure? Force needed to manually flip the turn lever is normal. |

Most common problem is the whole combination switch. You have to remove the steering wheel with air bag, plus the lower dash panel. Not a very hard job, but you need the long torx socket to remove the airbag (does Euro have one?) and the allen socket to remove the steering wheel bolt.

Metricman, the Euro version does not have an airbag. And it seems that I don't have to pull down the lower dash. Do you think the problem in in the combination switch? The MB sevice dealer here didn't recommend it's replacement when they previously changed the plastic ring.
Benzmac, how much is the plastic ring? ------------------ Jake |
