Can't Turn It Off!!! - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I desperately need help!!! I have a 1985 300TD Turbo Diesel and I just came home and I can't turn it off. I turn the key back and even take it out and the car just keeps running. Please help asap!!

You can open the hood and hold down the big lever that says STOP on it. The engine will turn off.

Then take it to your local tech and have the shut-off system checked.

Hold the STOP lever down hard for a few seconds. That should kill it. Normal engine shutoff is done by a vacuum solenoid on the back of the injection pump. If it's not working, you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Look for disconnected hoses in the area around the oil filter and injection pump. It's possible the shutoff solenoid itsef is bad, but most likely just a loose hose.

Guys, I guess I wasn't pressing the STOP button hard enough. The car is now off (HUH!!) and I'll have it checked first thing tomorrow.

when i test drove a diesel benz and i shut it off it didnt want to turn off and it scared the crap out of me!!!!!
