Transmission removal / installation

Hi All,
Can anyone help me with comprehensive removal / installation instructions for a 1982 300d turbo Transmission?

I'm hoping it is not too difficult as this will save me a tremedous amount of labor costs.

Not that I have the answer to your question, but I see you have a history of slipping in first gear. I guess I'm wondering why you want to pull the tranny, did you get it checked out by someone knowledgeable with MB trannies?

The piston for that band can be removed with the trans in the car. Replacement of the seal is simple & the band can be adjusted at the same time by measuring the clearance & replacing the "adjustment pin" with the corrected size.

Parts would be less than $20. Would take 2-3 hrs at knowledgable shop.

I can't seem to find anybody that will do that check for me,
They all say "it needs to be replaced" without even looking at it.
I am so frustrated, I would hate to replace a fixable tranny, but i just don't know where to go from here.
Seems like all the indy's around here are looking to make the
"big buck" and just don't want to do a check to see if it's something less serious.
I am willing to travel to find a good, honest shop, but have no idea where to look anymore.
So now that i've whined like a little girl, the reason I wanted to know how to remove the tranny is I thought maybe I could buy a used one and try to replace it myself.
I wish I could afford to take it into a shop and say "just do what it takes", but I can't.
