Parameter steering

In the newer cars (97-present) there is an option for with or w/o parameter steering.

What is parameter steering & how is compared to the non-parameter type?

Pat, it's MB's power steering option that is linked to the computer monitoring the speed of the car. Since the stereos are speed dependent, why shouldn't the steering be?
