A/C Not Cooling
I have a 87 190 Dt. I've read several post after the fact about not converting to R-134.
My problem is that it only cools when the vehicle is moving or at high rpms; once you slow down it quits. Is this from changing to R-134? The compressor is running the whole time. Has anyone converted back to R-12. I used a DIY kit that said the R-12 and R-134 oils could mix. Will it work going back to R-12? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!! |

Your description indicates that the system is possibly improperly charged.
The kits are bad news. On the automotive a/c sites they call them "death kits." I have reverse converted one system. You must disconnect and thoroughly flush EVERYTHING, replace the filter drie, put in the correct amount of mineral oil, evacuate and charge. Good luck, |

I had a similar problem with my C220, the AC would only cool when the car was moving. Pressure in the system was fine, all it needed was a new expansion valve. Works great now. Hope this helps.
