Engine control module
I have a 1993 300D at a Benz repair shop and I'm told I have to install a $2200 engine control module in order to get the Tach and turbo to work. Is this control module worth that, and what are my options?

Hi,
First thoughts are: 1) Check Fastlane (Link on top of page) for thier cost. 2) If you are handy with a multimeter, I suspect someone in the Diesel forum will tell you how to check the unit. 3) IF the unit is fried, the fault codes should indicate so. Not sure, but your multimeter with duty cycle might provide the answer. Again, the diesel forum will help. 4) Do a search on your model and engine control. Results might prove interesting. 5) Try car-parts.com for a used unit. Good luck, |

Before spending that much$$$ I would look for a used one.
MB part number is 012-545-43-32 & list price shows $1850. You might try Potomac German at 800-831-8901!
