Windshield WIper Motor on 126
How do you get it out without cracking the windshield?

Have you removed the wiper arms, large one-piece plastic grille that's underneath the windshield and the rubber-like seal that runs between the grille and windshield?

Actually, I think that the nut has come off again. About 8 months ago, I had to fix that...I guess I did not do it right.
It was then that I accidentally cracked the windshield.

Hi,
Wipers on my 91 W126 just stopped working ... rmoved motor/transmission assembly ... pretty easy ... toughest was prying the plastic caps off the wiper axle shafts in order to get to the nut holding the individual wipers on. Typical MB ... incredibly well put together ... Now, the problem, as all the threads pointed to, was one of the ball sockets (plastic) getting a bit brittle and then cracking, relieving pressure and allowing the ball to pop out ... the one that did this on mine was the main arm attachment - first socket if tracing drive transmission from the motor. It looks like it could be repaired if the plastic ball sockets are replaceable ... if not, what is the story? Appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for quick response ... reconfirmed cost ... $445 at dealer. I usually just smile and say no thanks, but this time I did a bit of pleasant reaming at the counter. This is nonsense ... OK, back to reality of what to do ... I have several sources of used transmission assemblies ... problem is that I assume they could also fail at any time - I wouldn't mind paying $50 for a used assembly if I had some idea they would last for a few years ... can the sockets be lubricated sufficiently to improve the chances of a used one? On your epoxy fix, what kind did you use ... thin flow or paste? I would rather spend $10 on epoxy and get a 3-5 year fix vice replacing ... did you eventually get a used assembly? How long did your epoxy fix work? Thanks!
