Well, the time has come to make room in the stable for a vehicle that is less maintenance intensive than the mighty 6.9. I got a call last night, and the deal was worked out. Boy I'll really be sad to see it go ![]() ![]() ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |

Hi Aaron,
I have a friend with a TR6 which I believe is for sale. He just moved from California to NJ. Company paid for the move expense so he took the car, but has no place to keep it. I'll send him an e-mail to double check. Eric |

Aaron,
Regarding your TR-6 inquiry, check the rear frame area, where the trailing arms attach, VERY CAREFULLY for rust. They all rust to some degree, but many are really weak in this area-even Cali or southern cars. Repairs are possible, but labor intensive, as the body shell must be removed to properly replace the bad sections. Also check the areas around the headlights and taillights, as well as the rockers for rust and/or incorrect repairs. Everything else about the TR-6 is bulletproof, and by 1972 or so, even the Lucas electrics had most of the bugs worked out. As for years, I think '72 and '73 are the best, as they had the dual pipe exhaust from manifold to tailpipes, but no air pumps, egr, or big bumpers. Good luck! Colin Connor |

Eric, Colin: Thanks guys for your replies. I am very anxious to find a TR6 before the nice weather hits. I'd like a '72-'73 specifically (no bumperettes, and no heavy smog control and removable headrests on the seats). One with the optional hardtop would be nice, but I know they're hard to come by. Like I said in my original post, the car will receive the triple Weber 40 DCOE setup along with headers and free flow exhaust, so the engine should be in relatively decent shape. Please let me know if either of you have any leads. It would be much appreciated! ------------------ Rgds, Aaron Greenberg MB technician Precision Motorcars, Cincinnati, Ohio '67 250SE Cabriolet '77 450SL '79 6.9 '80 300SD '85 380SE '89 420SEL '93 300E 2.8 |
