Question Brake pedal

Dont know if its just me or if its real......Last week I put on my summer rims and in the process, checked all brakes and only needed to replace one rear pad because it got misaligned and was touching a bit.

For some reason now, the brake pedal needs to be depressed a bit more especially when reversing. Is there something going wrong or will it go back to normal? It needs to be a bit more firm.

I hope I am not exiting the hwy one day and I step on the pedal and nothing happens!!!!!

Is it a master cylinder or something?

Any suggestions?

I suggest having your brake fluid flushed and changed, not only for peace of mind, but to make sure its clean and working properly.

Also have brake hoses checked, a worn hose can expand too much.

Pedal depressing further can happen if pads are more worn.

If it were me, I'd change the pads on both sides, front and rear, and have the brake fluid flushed and replaced, and the system bled.

when my master cylinder went out, I would have my foot down and the brake pedal would sink to the floor and the car would start creeping forward gives you a little surprise, especially if you're waiting at a stoplight!

Apply the parking brake. Keep one hand at the release if the rear wheels block.

Downshift all the way. Rather replace a broke tranny than the whole vehicle.

If further braking is required, touch the guardrail. If there is no guardrail, look for an escape route (open field, whatever)

Avoid any head on collision

Kind regards
Eberhard

i dont want to think about it!

Well, me and my dad checked it out and he said its just me and he wished to have brakes as good as on my car! The brake pads still have life on them left but arent new, therefore making a slight difference. I also topped up on the brake fluid and leaks in the system were checked he said, when the summer rims were put on.
