'79 240D 123 body Style

In my recent post concerning fine tuning the A/C thermostat, I have found out that what I have been calling the "thermostat" is properly named the "evaporator temperature sensor" If any one knows the proper setting , please let me know. My A/C compressor will not cycle. Also, would the condenser fan not operating cause the compressor to not cycle. I have just found a bad switch and the fan is not operating. Thanks
