Hi Tinker,
Turning the mixture adjuster counter-clockwise results in a higher duty cycle, clockwise - lower. I was under the impresssion that the lower the number the richer the mixture. I haven't really spent a lot of time trying to optimise mine yet but I have it slightly rich and it seems to be oscillating between +2/-2 ma when in closed loop mode. I discovered a few other things, my fan switch wasn't cutting in and after the temp reaches a certain number of degrees it seems to go into a FOM with a duty cycle in the 20% region - sorry can't remember the exact figure. Also, if the free play of 1-2mm isn't there and zero isn't set correctly then you won't go closed loop at all, I guess this is the basic mixture adjustment and being outside of this screws up the works. Mine hot starts just fine and cold starts the same so I guess I'm on the money. It doesn't start on first turn of the key like my 190 E but after 3-4 turns of the starter. Seems fine to me. Ignition is 100% Cheers, Neil |

Neil,
Thanks for the post. Yes, something is REALLY screwie on my wife's car. When I lean mine, my duty cycle declines! I had it set close to the factory specified 50% duty cycle and it failed the biannual emissions test . The shop leaned it much more and now I get a duty cycle near 20%. It runs fine and doesn't leave any black soot on the garage floor in the morning like it use to. Go figure. Your range of +/- 2ma at the EHA sounds right on the money. When I adjusted mine, it was a bit tighter, maybe +/-1ma or +/-.75ma. Enjoy. Tinker |
