Does anyone know how to remove the center wood console of a 98 S-Class? I have a CL 600 (S-600 coupe) of which I am trying to remove the wood portion of the center console to replace the ashtray unit. I got as far as the rear part pulled up but cannot get the rest of the wood console to come off. I am afraid at this point of going further risking breaking the wood console if I force it off. Does anyone know if there are clips underneath or if there is a special procedure to remove the wood center console?
